Happy to say I finished the Quarter Marathon of Egmond. My second race and my first beyond 5 km. It was cold, lots of wind and we had to run a third of the race on the beach. Heaviest bit was climbing the dune after just having covered 3 km of beach. The climb was not on an official pathway, there was a gap in the dune made just for us. A steep climb in loose sand, a killer!
Around 7 km I expected to get a cup of cold water, but got warm water instead. Struggled with the result of that until 9 km, my stomach wasn’t very happy.
But, on the other hand, I was totally surprised to see the 7 km sign so soon. And the 8 and 9 also came earlier as expected. All in all, a good day and a good race!
